Sixteen, pushing 21
In my recent project, Sweet Sixteen, I examine the current generation of young women who want to present themselves to the outside world, self-consciously, apparently free and uninhibited, but only show an image of themselves that they think they must comply with. In this series of portraits, I want to show the strength of these young adolescents, a phase in which they are vulnerable and strong at the same time. In a period in which everything, emotional and social, is in flux and the ground regularly falters under their feet. The accord between the image we have created of ourselves and… ourselves.
